Healthier Chocolate Crackles (Nut-Free & Toddler-Friendly)
Who didn’t love chocolate crackles as a kid? This fun, high-fibre twist on the classic brings a bit more nourishment without losing the chocolatey crunch. These easy chocolate crackles are nut-free, making them perfect for toddler snacks, school lunchboxes, or party table choices. Quick to make, freezer-friendly, and packed with better-for-you ingredients - what’s not to love?

Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 cups puffed rice
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup hemp seeds
  • 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 silicone mini muffin tray
  • 1 small saucepan

Method
 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the puffed rice, seeds, desiccated coconut and cacao powder. Mix until combined.
  2. Meanwhile, over medium heat in a small saucepan add the coconut oil and warm until melted. Add in the maple syrup and vanilla essence. Stir until melted together.
  3. Pour the melted wet ingredients over the dry ingredients in the mixing bowl. Stir to combine.
  4. Use a spoon to scoop into the mini silicone moulds. Place in the fridge for a couple of hours to set.
