Silky Smooth Hummus
Hummus is a staple in our home—it's a quick and easy snack for toddlers and a great addition to family-friendly meals. But if you’re buying it often, the cost can really add up! I love a silky smooth hummus, so I set out to create a homemade version that’s budget-friendly, toddler-approved, and ready in minutes.
- 1 tin chickpeas, drained
- 1/8 tsp Bicarb soda
- 5 tbsp tahini
- 1 lemon, juice only
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4-5 ice cubes
- Small pinch of salt
Gently boil the chickpeas in a small pot with the bicarb soda for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile juice the lemon and place the garlic clove in the lemon juice while the chickpeas are boiling.
Remove and drain the chickpeas then add to a bowl of cold water and scoop out the chickpea skins. Drain the chickpeas again ready to go into the food processor.
Add all ingredients except the ice cubes to a food processor.
Blend for 3-4 minutes until mostly smooth.
Add the ice cubes and blend for another 2 minutes.
You should have beautiful silky smooth hummus. Garnish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and some parsley or dill.
